Nestled within the folds of Sardinia’s thousand-year-old history, a few kilometres from the village of Goni, the Pranu Muttedu Archaeological Park stands as a monument to antiquity — a place where time has stood still to recount the customs and traditions of those who inhabited the territory before the rise of Nuragic civilisation. Here, among rugged rocks and centuries-old trees, a compelling story unfolds, revealing the secrets of the most mysterious and fascinating cultic and funerary expressions.

The main clusters of the Pranu Muttedu site appear as fragments of an ancient mosaic, featuring a Neolithic village and a necropolis of domus de janas, the typical artificial hypogeal tomb-chambers of Sardinian prehistory, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2025. Majestic menhirs — imposing megalithic monuments arranged variously in pairs, small groups, or short and long alignments — rise up across the landscape as silent witnesses to an ancient spirituality. The Pranu Muttedu archaeological area is home to approximately 60 menhirs, the largest concentration in Sardinia, marking a sacred or funerary site. On the rocks of Genna Accas, a second group of domus de janas can be found, masterfully carved into the rock, alongside stone circles that evoke ancient sacred rites.
